Befriending your body is an 8-week, trauma-informed yoga and therapy group designed to support you in reconnecting to your body’s needs.

If you’re recovering from stress, trauma, burnout or illness, this group is for you. You will be gently guided to (re)learn the language of your own body by listening and responding with compassion within the container of a supportive, confidential small group. We’ll explore:

  • How to identify and respond to your body’s boundaries

  • The qualities of various nervous system states including fight, flight, freeze, fawn and collapse

  • Practices that support rest, healing, reflection, and action

Next group:

September 16th-November 4th: Tuesdays at 3-5:30pm PST/6-8:30pm EST

Our 2-hour group sessions will be hosted online via zoom. The group will have a maximum of 7 participants to ensure individual needs can be adequately supported. You will also be able to book a 30-minute private check-in before the program begins, and another during or after the program.

$800 for 21 hr ($38/hr). [Ontario residents: if you have private insurance that covers “psychotherapy”, you can submit receipts from this group for reimbursement].

No prior yoga experience required. All genders welcome.

additional information:

  • Sessions will generally follow this structure:

    • Guided self-inquiry meditation

    • Check-in with group

    • Yoga practice & teachings

    • Self reflection

    • Check-out with group

Yoga practices will be taught from an embodiment lens, and can include asana (postures), meditation, pranayama (breath practice), and yoga philosophy.

Options will be provided throughout the practice to encourage participants to listen to their bodies needs and limitations.

  • You will need a private space, internet connection, a device to join the zoom call, a yoga mat/carpet/rug, pillows and blankets, and a journal.

You will be required to keep information shared by other participants confidential, and be a nonjudgemental, supportive witness to the other members of the group.

  • It’s okay to miss a date, but sessions will not be recorded. If you will be missing more than 2 sessions, you may want to join a future session instead. You can sign up for my mailing list here to hear about future offerings.

  • I am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), but not in British Columbia yet as the province’s psychotherapy regulations are changing. I recommend checking in with your insurance provider to see what type of registration they require from psychotherapists.
